how to get rid of bacterial speck #947926

Asked October 30, 2026, 1:17 PM EDT

I had bacterial speck on my tomatoes this year. They were grown from plants purchased at various stores. They were in "raised beds"...meaning beds built on top of cement, lined with plastic and filled with dirt. How can I make sure this pathogen doesn't come back next year.

The pathogen is everywhere but there are control measures. These include watering at the base of plants, sanitation, good air flow and crop rotation. The links above offer strategies for control in greater detail.
