Hi!
A light green grass has been expanding its presence in my yard (and some neighbors' yards). The bulk of my yard is Kentucky Bluegrass. The grass is low lying and can be easily pulled up in clumps like a piece of carpet (very shallow root structure). What is this and how can I get rid of it without destroying the rest of the yard?

It may be bent grass but there are other possibliities also. treatment is almost the same. Do not allow it to set seed heads. Catch clippings. As you state it pulls up easily, plan on weeding hours on a regular schedule to remove plants. Apply a crabgrass preventor to prevent seeds from germinating But that will prevent your ability for dormant seeding this fall. Of course, you could use a non-discriminating product like Round Up but that would kill everything.
