Asked September 15, 2026, 4:11 PM EDT

We recieved a soil test from the U of MN -- please see file attached 2 Questions: 1. What type of evergreen would be best suited for our soil? 2. Also a bit lost on how much fetilzer to apply. it's just for a very small area (say 8 feet x 8 feet where the old 12 foot evergreen died. .07 lbs/100 sq ft means nothing to me. Please explain how many cups of 4-3-6 do I apply to that small area? thank you so much! robert

Expert Response

Thank you for your questions.  They have been assigned to me.

With respect to your question about fertilizer, I'll be glad to answer that in a general way, but perhaps the most beneficial to you would be for me to base my comments upon any fertilizer that you may have on hand.  If you do have such, please send me a picture of the front side of the bag so that I can see the name of the fertilizer.  Then somewhere on the bag should be a listing of the chemical contents.  Please take a picture of that as well and send to me.

Once I hear back from you, I will be able to fashion answers to both of your questions.  Thanks for consulting us.
