I have found some Desarmillaria/ armillaria fungus at the base of my mature 80 foot oak tree
How can I remediate it? Are there arborists in my area that can help?

Call your local Ohio extension office for names of arborists. In my reading there s no chemical cure. You can manage the infection and stop or slow the infection removing the soil around the root flare 9-12 inches deep and 3 feet out from the trunk/ Leave it exposed and keep it clean. The object is to let it dry out. That means keep leaves out of it. Its going to tough to do this time of the year. Do not surface water. deep watering is best and fertilize the tree, the best would be in the spring. Be sure to sterilize your tools with a bleach mixture. Good luck to you. It is probably a beautiful tree and having an arborist check it is very wise. Good luck
