My korean maple was damaged by the recent storm. A branch the size of an arm #943065

A branch the size of my arm was almost completely sheared off. I returned from a trip so it has been like this for 9 days. My husband is going to prune it and I’m wondering if we should spray the open wound with something to help it heal.

Expert Response
There is no need to apply anything to pruning wounds. Applying a pruning paint or wound dressing does not prevent wood decay and may interfere with the tree’s ability to seal the wound.
