Brown discoloration on peony blossoms #933241

Asked May 28, 2026, 9:08 AM EDT

I protected my peonies from frost a few weeks ago yet I have this discoloration on my white peony blossoms. The pink and magenta blooms have minimal damage to them. The white are shaded for a few more hours than the rest because of a low hanging branches of cherry tree.

Expert Response

Hi there.
Because the discoloration is only on the outside, I suspect that it was due to the frost.

And since your pictures show that they are well on their way to opening, you most likely do not have Botrytis Blight.

Your peonies look nice and healthy and well spaced. Please keep up the good work!
