Service berry bush frost damage? #931003

Asked May 07, 2026, 8:43 PM EDT

hello, I have a 4 year old Service Berry that just finished blooming its flowers. Today I looked at the leaves and I would like to know if it suffered frost damage. 2 days ago it was below freezing here because the bird bath had ice in it. Could the young leaves have been damaged or killed by the below freezing temps? Will the leaves come back or will it have to made new leaves? Thank you

Expert Response

Since the leaves aren’t black they probably weren’t killed by the cold snap. Even if they were, the tree would leaf out again and be fine. The leaves will probably perk back in a couple of days. Giving it about 5 gallons of water per week will also help the tree look its best and keep it healthy.
