Additional garlic mustard question #930841
Asked May 06, 2026, 3:54 PM EDT
I have been pulling garlic mustard in my woods for a few years. This year it is already in bloom, no seeds yet. If I bag it and seal it in a trash bag, long enough for the plants to die, where do I dispose it? Are there disposal sites? We are not supposed to put plant material in our trash.
Thanks!

Expert Response
If Washington county has municipal composting sending it to the yard waste collection stream will be fine. Municipal compost sites get hot enough to kill pests, seeds and diseases.
