Not a tomato plant; what is this? #928636

Asked April 16, 2026, 5:28 PM EDT

Hi, would you help me identify what this plant is. It's definited NOT a San Marzano tomato, but came in the same seed packet. I don't want to keep growing it if it turns out to be a weed!

It does not look like a tomato. A rogue seed perhaps got into your packet.  I assume you have other seedlings from the same package which you can compare to.

More likely, it is some other flower or vegetable from the same company.  It is difficult to identify plants at this early stage.  It could be, for instance, cosmos:

I'm always adventuresome in this kind of situation. I'd pot it up.  If it is a weed, it will not spread if you keep it in a pot and don't let it go to seed.
