Colorful, small, hardy, sun/shade Hasta #927734

Asked April 07, 2026, 1:23 PM EDT

Is there a colorful, smaller size and hardy variety of hasta that grows in sun shade ? Ive seen some online that are vibrant blues etc. Thanks

Expert Response

Most hostas tolerate morning sun, four hours or so, but full sun exposure usually results in scorch that's unsightly by mid to late summer. Filtered sun all day is ok.

Yellow-leafed varieties and those with thick corrugated leaves seem to be less susceptible to sun damage.

Beware of online advertising that features "colorful" hostas.
