Eric,
If you can take another, closer photo of the foliage, that will help. My hunch is that this is a mature eastern red cedar tree that has grown out of its bushy phase. I'm basing this mostly on the bark, as well as what I can glean from the needles.
It could be another type of juniper, but eastern red cedar is my guess at this time.
